WEDDING THEME DO-OVER

{from weheartit.com}

I absolutely loved my wedding! It was perfect for us. Everything went according to un-plan because we had only the expectation of going with the flow...and that we did. October 31st does not lend itself to many other themes, other than death, goth or the undead (our life obsession - pun-intended).

As of late, however, my tastes have changed dramatically. Yes, I still love zombie attire, ironic Threadless t-shirts, and pin-up girls, but I seem to be gravitating towards earth tones, flowy-ness, lace, and crochets. I would never officially ever want to re-do my wedding. Allen and I do, however, talk about renewing our vows every five years.

Thinking about our future and searching the web, I fell upon this Denver photo shoot on Style Me Pretty. The colours are simply subtle, earthy tones. The cake is decorated with beautiful, hand sewn flowers and the candy apples look like yummy, yarny edibles.

{I actually designed this board from the website...one of their great functions}

As for the attire for the evening, I am thinking something along the lines of The Romantics. I recently just watched this film. It stars Katie Holmes, as Laura, maid of honor to "best friend" Lila and ex to Lila's fiance. Laura and "the Romantics", friends who have known each other for a decade and renowned for their incestuous dating history, gather at Lila's family estate on the East Coast, where all are forced to come to terms with denied feelings.

I absolutely fell in love with the stylish clothes, gathered from J. Crew, Urban Outfitters, Philip Lim, and Club Monaco.

I would wear a lovely dress that I saw the cute Kelli Larson wearing on her blog:

SECRET: For our anniversary this year I am working on something really special for just the two of us. Hopefully I can wrangle the g-units to watch the girls. Fingers crossed.

CUPCAKE-ILICIOUS: Golden Vanilla Cupcakes with Lemon Zest Buttercream Frosting and Blueberry

I have been experimenting with Cupcakes more lately as I am getting ready for the big day (the wedding) when I actually have to make 100 some odd Chumpcake ones. I think I have nailed the cupcake making and the icings I have made are super awesome: peanut butter frosting, regular butercream. A couple of days ago I tried a new Golden Vanilla cupcake recipe from Cupcakes Takeover the World. Delicious!!! I also fudged a delicious lemony icing and added a blueberry on top for a little personality. They look good but I am still trying to nail a really peaky type cupcake icing that isn't melty. If y'all have any suggestions on the type of piping bag I should use and even a recipe that I could use to attain this:

AHHHH!!!!!

So, it has been a wild ride lately. As most of you know, I have been living in Montreal with my two daughters and husband. We moved here to see if we could reignite his love for messengering. Although a great city for some, not for an Ottawa messenger who wants to live in the quiet country and afford things for his small family. Henceforth, we are leaving our loft. Great space for Montreal dwelling, creation and young, roaming toddler, but we are outta here. A week ago, my husband was accepted into the Heritage Masonry program in Perth, Ontario.

We are packing our bags and heading out kids...IN THREE WEEKS! The apartment we found is beautiful and funnily enough is presently occupied by my first midwife who delivered my first daughter. They seem to be leading parallel lives. Her partner also attended the same school that my partner will be. He studied Heritage Carpentry. And for those who are my closest friends, they know that I want to be a midwife...BADLY! Their apartment was full of wooden toys, a dresser that looked like our daughter's and they bedshare.

SOOOO...The list of To-Dos in the upcoming weeks and month include:

* sign the lease, pack and move in to Perth (pics of the apartment will be up soon)
* get rid of this apartment (may be a problem considering our landlord has not repaired the massive hole in our ceiling)
* all things wedding - marriage license, DETAILS, DETAILS, DETAILS, PAYMENTS, PAYMENTS, PAYMENTS - Ah but I love It!
* get finances in order for our year of unemployment and student fees
* Plan my beautiful sister's baby shower (El let's have it at our new house honey!)
* Craft
* Bake
* Blog
* Draw
* Love

Over the next month I will do my best to blog the bleep out of this thing, but please excuse me if I fall behind.

I LOVE ETSY

It is true. I am an Etsy Sucker. This online shop for all things crafty and cute is awesome!!! Two years ago my friend Erin told me about it. We are both young mothers on a budget and eco-friendly. She suggested this site. I went on and BAM! You are hooked (pun intended if you are into crocheting). So, in honour of my love of Etsy, I thought I would post my fave item.

My fave, cutie pie and illustrator extraordinaire Miss Kelli Murray. I subscribe to her blog and check it out religiously each day. She is beautiful and her designs so unique. Love you Kelli. You can order her prints here: Kelli Murray Art and Visit her Blog here: Kelli Murray's Blog
